Domestic Violence & Abuse Training
Domestic violence and abuse are sometimes called DVA and is a serious issue affecting children and adults. Whether people witness domestic violence first hand or overhear it or witness any after-effects – it affects people in a variety of different ways.
Eastend Training offers a domestic violence course that that helps people understand what domestic violent is and how it begins. The course gives participants an insight into who penetrates abuse and helps them identify what may be happening. This course might be particularly helpful for those working with children as it demonstrates the impact that domestic violence and abuse has on victims and children and helps participants understand how to respond to concerns.

It is suitable for professionals in any industry that who have contact with children, young children, and families. This course is presented at an introductory level and is suitable for workers of all levels, including part-time staff and volunteers.
On completion of the course, you will receive a certificate in Domestic Violence and Abuse Training by Eastend Training.
Course content:
Part 1: What is domestic violence – this section outlines the types of domestic violence and outlines its affects on people and children.
Part 2: Types of Domestic violence – this section shows the types of domestic violence including the Duluth model, power and control, emotional abuse, denying and blaming, using children and privilege and financial abuse.
Part 3: Impact of Domestic violence – this section outlines how domestic violence begins and how can be a victim of domestic violence and considers why victims of abuse don’t come forward. It also considers the impact on mental health and outlines coping mechanisms.
Part 4: Impact of Domestic violence on children – this section is particularly useful for those working with children. It shows how to recognise domestic abuse, outlines the impact on children and covers safeguarding issues.

- Understand the impact that domestic violence and abuse has on victims and their lives.
- Understand the impact that domestic violence and abuse has on people and children and understand why domestic violence is considered harmful for both adults and children.
