Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

Course Overview
This qualification enables a designated first aider to provide emergency care to anyone who becomes ill or injured in the workplace. It covers essential CPR and first aid skills through a combination of practical training and classroom based learning.

Duration: 6 hours

Delivery: 1 day or split into shorter sessions over a 4 week period

What You Will Learn
The course includes training in how to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider

Assess incidents and manage emergency situations

Administer CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED)

Assist unresponsive casualties (with and without normal breathing)

Manage choking, bleeding, burns, and shock

Assessment
Assessment is carried out by the trainer during the course. Learners must demonstrate the ability to act safely, promptly, and effectively in a range of emergency scenarios. All practical elements must be completed to a satisfactory standard in order to achieve the qualification.
Renewal
The certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of assessment. To renew, learners must retake the full 6 hour course. Requalification must be completed within a 3 week period from the start date.
